Hi, I'm Tanya Benet, health coach, photographer, passionate cook and yogi; traveler and adventurer, inspired by the great outdoors and lover of nature and animals.
My goal is to inspire you to improve your habits, your body and your health, and live up to your greatest potential. With this in mind, I created this website to geek out over food, nutrition, fitness, beauty and spirituality, based on the idea that health, vitality, awareness and joy are essential for a happy life. During my years as an art and design student living in Paris, I was emotionally and spiritually blocked, which was manifesting in an unhealthy relationship with food, unhealthy relationships with my family, emotional eating, insatiable cravings and feelings of unfulfilment.
I was constantly pushing myself to the limits, staying up all night, going for days without sleep and then oversleeping, missing classes, over-partying, over-eating and over-shopping. Most of my actions where driven by impulse and the wrong intentions. My soul was starved and I was totally disconnected and numbed out.
Physically, all my life I suffered from poor and sluggish digestion, constant bloating, dull skin and frequent brake-outs, brittle nails and low energy. As I was living away from home and didn’t know how to cook, I was totally dependant on others for food, eating prepared, processed and packaged foods, ordering delivery, take out and eating out at restaurants for the most part.
Eventually out of desperation, I realised I had to make changes and prioritise my wellbeing, and at that moment I had my health and spiritual awakening, which lead me to educate myself as an investment in my long-term health and happiness.
As I understood the importance of eating healthfully and taking care of my mind and body, and through many experiments on myself I experienced the incredible benefits of this new lifestyle. I soon became more comfortable in the kitchen and within weeks of changing my eating habits I noticed amazing shifts in how I felt and looked.
My digestion issues disappeared and I was no longer bloated, my skin cleared and got an incredible glow to it, my nails and hair grew longer and stronger, and my energy levels increased. Through the daily practice of meditation and yoga I discovered the voice of my intuition and got back in touch with myself. Worry and stress faded away and my restless wandering mind calmed down while increasing awareness, attention, memory and focus.
As a result of all these changes my productivity and creativity increased and I was feeling healthier and happier than ever. This health adventure helped me rediscover and strengthen my powers while deepening the relationship with myself. I was feeling connected again.
Over time my passion for health and nutrition grew bigger and stronger and I soon realised the calling to share this incredibly empowering lifestyle. Encouraged by my parents, I decided to take my studies a step further and moved to New York to go to nutrition school, turning my passion into profession.
I received my training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition’s cutting edge Health Coach Training Program, where I studied over one hundred dietary theories, and studied a variety of practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts. My teachers included Dr. Andrew Weil, Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine; Dr. Deepak Chopra, leader in the field of mind-body medicine; Dr. David Katz, Director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center; Dr. Walter Willett, Chair of Nutrition at Harvard University; Geneen Roth, bestselling author and expert on emotional eating; and many other leading researchers and nutrition authorities.
My education has equipped me with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, and preventive health. Drawing on these skills, the knowledge of different dietary theories, and my own personal experiences I work with clients to help them make lifestyle changes that produce real and lasting results, while creating vibrant health and happiness.
I have made it my mission to inspire and educate about the importance and benefits of healthy eating and living, in a fun, engaging and realistic way. As the creative soul that I am, I have found absolute joy and happiness by combining my passion for healthy living and cooking with design and photography.
I aim to share my message through visually compelling images and to-the-point information, with the intention to be as clear, informative and beautiful as possible. This website and its contents, designed and created by me, are a reflection of who I am and what I believe in.
